Mt. Graham - Graham County, Arizona
This past February, I was riding north on Highway 191 in Graham County, Arizona, when I turned back to capture this beautiful photo of Mt. Graham. The altitude at the summit is 10,720 feet! I think this is a very pretty picture. :) -Steve (May 16, 2008) Mt. Triplet - San Carlos Indian Reservation
I rode my second "century ride" of my life (i.e. bicycling 100+ miles in a day) on February 12, beginning in Superior and finishing in Safford. Somewhere out there on the San Carlos Indian Reservation, I spotted this pretty view of three pointed peaks. After doing some reserach, I learned the tallest peak is known as Mt. Triplet. I think it's a very fitting name! -Steve (April 8, 2008) Ecstatic Over The Lush Arizona Desert
I was about to begin a bicycle ride from Florence Junction to Superior, when I noticed this amazing view of the Arizona desert. My friend Brandi snapped this classic photo of me standing in the foreground. I was indeed quite giddy to be out there! You are welcome to check out my photos from this particular day right
here.
Interstate 10 In Ehrenberg, Arizona
Now this is a very sentimental photo! I had just crossed the Colorado River on Interstate 10 and in the small town of Ehrenberg, Arizona, I captured this pretty view of the highway and desert with the official "Welcome to Arizona" sign. Keep in mind I was standing with my bicycle when I snapped this photo. You can view all of my photos from this day, in which I bicycled from Blythe,
California to Quartzsite, Arizona here.
It was a wonderful day to be in the desert!
Picketpost Mountain - Superior, AZ
I was bicycling along on Highway 60, enjoying the beauty and approaching Superior when I captured this striking view of Picketpost Mountain (altitude 4,375 feet). I was really impressed with the peacefulness of the town of Superior,
and I stayed overnight at a motel as part of my long journey
biking across America.
I have so many wonderful pictures from my time across Arizona and
look forward to periodically showing them off in the next few weeks.
A Hike In The Desert
My friend Joel and I went for a short hike in a desert area in Tucson, and I took particular interest in this cholla with orange fruit on its ends. I'll admit this is a cactus one does not want to mess with! -Steve (April 22, 2007) Arizona Saguaros
I was looking through my photos from my visit to Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument in southern Arizona and thought this was a nice photo of saguaros. Man oh man, I miss the desert! In stark contrast, today we just received our fourth consecutive day of snowfall in central Colorado. It is still winter out this way! -Steve (March 30, 2007) The Arizona Sonora Desert Museum
Here's a shot along the many paths at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson. That gnarly-looking cactus is called an "organ pipe cactus" and it grows naturally in south central Arizona and parts of Mexico. While Arizona's saguaro deservedly receives the most accolades from desert enthusiasts, the organ pipe cactus is a "close second" in my book. ;) -Steve (February 19, 2007) |
